wanted: Lead engineer
We are looking for a lead engineer for our modular wastewater treatment plants in a permanent position. Induction will begin as soon as we find the right person!
Do you want to be a part of an innovative team and lead our in-house engineering team? We are looking for a lead engineer who will act as the lead designer and supervisor within the team. Additionally, you will serve as an expert in customer meetings, define the necessary cleantech unit solutions, and be responsible for process design while supporting subcontracting processes related to design. Your days also include some visits to the customer sites.
At Owatec, part of Sulzer, we develop innovative and sustainable wastewater treatment solutions for industrial and municipal customers worldwide. We are now looking for a Lead Engineer to strengthen our growing team in Oulu.
In this role, you will have a key position in developing our products and delivering successful customer projects. You will combine process engineering expertise with team leadership, contributing to solutions that improve resource efficiency and environmental performance.
as a lead engineer, you will
- Lead and support the process engineering and procurement team
- Drive product development and project engineering activities
- Act as a process engineering expert within the international Sulzer Water Treatment Solutions network
- Support mechanical, electrical and automation engineering throughout projects
- Ensure product safety, compliance and technical documentation
- Participate in and oversee CAD design activities (Vertex or similar tools)
- Contribute to customer-specific wastewater treatment solutions
- Manage smaller engineering projects when required
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, customers and project teams
Role requirements
- Degree in Engineering (B.Sc. or M.Sc.), preferably in Process, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong understanding of process engineering principles and industrial projects
- Experience in product development and project delivery environments
- Knowledge of CAD design tools, preferably Vertex or equivalent
- Fluent Finnish and English language skills
- Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills
- Experience in wastewater treatment technologies is considered a strong advantage.

We locate in Rusko, Oulu. The salary for this position is between EUR 4,300 and EUR 5,200 per month. The final salary will be determined based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, and overall suitability for the role.
