OwaReactor is an electrochemical oxidation reactor capable of removing industrial pollutants from wastewater streams and organic impurities from drinking water and municipal waste waters. It also can be used to disinfect for example drinking water.
The Reactor has inert multimetal electrodes. Efficiency of the reaction can be increased with NaCl-addition, which rises the conductivity of the water and hypochlorite (strong oxidizer) is produced without other chemical additions. Microbubbles that form in the reaction induce the flotation of impurities. Method is found suitable for decreasing COD and BOD levels in waste waters.
When changing the electrodes to iron electrodes, OwaReactor is an electrochemical coagulation device which coagulates impurities of waste water by sacrificing its iron electrodes. Device is currently under testing.
